Close but not enough.
Finally someone telling Ted Kennedy to sit down, shut up and
have another drink, even if it was very modestly done. Colin Powell very
diplomatically warned Kennedy that he should watch what he is saying while the
country is at war.
see article
Unfortunately it hasn't gone far enough. Ted Kennedy needs to be put in his place by every member of the US Senate. His inflammatory remarks do nothing but drag this country down further all to try and gain votes for the Presidential race. He is nothing more than the lap dog of John Kerry. The act of politicizing this war is reprehensible at the least. Our troops deserve better than this while they are fighting in this war. They are doing an awesome job of rebuilding a nation destroyed by greedy leadership, but you never see any of that in the press do you. Instead you get Katie "I'm a communist" Couric saying that the people of Iraq had it better under the "ultimate referee" Saddam Hussein. I just don't understand liberals. They claim to be the more compassionate of us, yet the freeing of millions of Arabs under two different hostile regimes means nothing to them. All it is, is a case of Bush bashing at every possible moment. When will libs understand? I guess when they can see through the hate they have of one man and really open their eyes to the good we are doing in Iraq.

Traitors and cowards
In an article from
the nether regions of the world, Denmark I think, the author shows his obvious
contempt and ignorance of the US military. The US military is not a Democracy
where everyone has a vote in where they are to serve, and when they are needed.
Commanders do not stand in front of their companies and take a vote as to what
they are going to do. They are given orders and expect their orders to be
carried out. The men and women who are fleeing to Canada are traitors
and cowards, and as such should be returned to the US in shackles, tried and
executed for deserting. There are different ways of getting your point
across with out deserting and giving a hand hold for the enemies of the US.
Becoming a conscientious objector can get you re-assigned to a non-combative
role in the war.
Being a veteran of the first Gulf War I have very strong opinions on the subject of serving your country. I like those mentioned in the article signed up for the promise of assistance in my education, but I went in knowing full well the implications of my decision. During Basic training you are trained to kill your enemy with small arms and hand to hand combat. There is no doubt in what they are training you to do. By then if you don't think you can handle it you should request a discharge and get out. Those that join only for the promise of assistance in their education are joining for the wrong reason. The opportunity to serve your country by defending it from it's enemies is a great honor that isn't to be taken lightly. I think that every person in the US should have mandatory service of some sort. I don't think that everyone should be forced to serve in the military, after all it's not for everyone, but there are countless other capacities to choose from in order to strengthen and benefit our country.

Only Sunday???
In an article
on Yahoo's web site the Pope states that Sunday is a day for God, and that
entertainment and sports are taking away from that "special day" set apart for
God.
My question is why only Sunday? I believe that every day is to be set apart for God, and that every aspect in your life should be dictated by what God's will for your life is. Sunday is set apart as a day of rest to recoup after working hard for six days. I go to church on Sunday to share in fellowship with other believers. The rest of the day is used for relaxing with my family. For us that includes watching the NASCAR race that happens to be on that week. If relaxing for you is taking a walk with your wife and kids go for it. If it includes planting a few flowers go for it.
For the Pope to point out only one day as "a day for God" sets people up for the belief that God doesn't matter the rest of the week. They can go about their lives without seeking God's will or following His commands. Unfortunately in my extremely limited exposure to Catholics this is exactly how they choose to view their lives. They can do anything they want as long as they go to confession and tell a priest what they have done. I know this is probably not the view of most Catholics, as I said I have very limited exposure.
I strive to listen to God's calling on my life and to live my live as best I can in this frail and faulty body I have. I fail every day, so please don't call me judgmental.

Finally a Democrat who understands.
Democratic Senator Zell Miller from Georgia has begun
campaigning for a Presidential candidate. But it is not John Kerry. Disgusted by
where his party has been heading in terms of issues he has endorsed President
Bush and started a "Democrats for Bush" effort.
What a relief to finally see a Democrat who isn't interested in playing partisan politics and sees the problems inherent in the Democratic party. John Kerry's tax plans and his strategy on the war on terror are the biggest issues that Miller states as his reason for endorsing Bush.
See story.
I hope that more Democrats can open their eyes and see where their party is leading them. John Kerry would prefer to hand over our nation's sovereignty to the United Nations (UN) and have them decide when and where we should be defending ourselves. It is my firmest belief that the U.S. should pull out of the UN and remove it's stench from our borders. The UN has proved what a worthless organization it is in terms of protecting the world from would be Hitlers. The UN calmly sat back while thousands of Iraqis were slaughtered by Saddam Hussein.
Now the UN's Human Rights body is condemning Israel for killing a known terrorist. The UN just doesn't seem to get that they can't bargain with terrorists. The only thing that will work on these groups is to continue to hit them back twice as hard. Israel ought to be applauded for removing a known instigator of terror in their country.

Can anyone say waste of money?
SOCIAL SECURITY IS GOING BROKE?!?!?!?!? I would never have
seen that coming. The Socialist, oops I mean Social Security system is such a
waste of hard working American's money it isn't even funny. The government's
attempt at forcing people to save for retirement is a colossal failure. I could
take 2% of the 15% that the government takes from my wages and easily outperform
the rest of the 13% that the government keeps. I'm hoping that President Bush
will follow through with his promise to release that money to us to invest on
our own.
